Fastly offers Light, Dark, and System appearance choices. Light is labeled Paper Studio and Dark is Quiet Orbit; System follows the device's current appearance.
Adjust the relevant control
Open Appearance and select the mode you want. Use the live theme preview to inspect the dial, text, and surfaces, then return to Today and check them with your actual timer.
Appearance offers System, Light (Paper Studio), and Dark (Quiet Orbit), plus Minimal orbit. These choices affect the visual presentation and do not alter session timestamps, journals, or completed-history ordering.
Check the real screen
If you choose System, a device appearance change can alter Fastly later without another in-app selection. Choose a fixed Light or Dark mode if that behavior is not what you want.

Keep presentation and records distinct
Theme changes affect presentation, not the session's timestamps, journal, or goal. Pick the view you find readable in your current environment rather than treating one as universally better.
Accessibility includes Reduce motion, Follow system, Larger timer numerals, High contrast ring, and Bold text. Fastly also follows device text size, so check both app and system settings for the effective result.
A worked walkthrough
Imagine selecting System during setup and later finding Fastly dark in the evening. The stored preference may still be correct because System asks the app to follow the device's current appearance. If you prefer a consistent palette, choose Light or Dark explicitly and inspect the real timer, History rows, and journal dialog afterward. The appearance preview is helpful, but your actual task screens reveal whether the text and surfaces are comfortable in the environment where you use them. Keep any session active while making the change only if it genuinely should remain active; the theme does not affect its timing. If a number seems different after the palette changes, check its start and goal rather than assuming color altered the ledger. The purpose of the theme choice is readable presentation, with session facts managed through separate controls.
