Know the data boundary
Reinstalling can remove local app records. A reinstall is therefore a poor first step for troubleshooting unless you have already preserved the data you want to keep.
Use the supported file workflow
Export a current backup, save it outside the app, and confirm you can locate it. Note the file date and whether the latest sessions and journal edits existed before the export.
Erasing local data does not delete files you previously exported. Reinstalling or changing devices can remove access to local records, so verify a saved backup before those actions if you want the ledger to remain recoverable.
Check the copy you actually have
After reinstalling, import the file and review the restored records. Remember that a file made before the latest changes cannot contain those changes.
| Check | Practical meaning |
|---|---|
| Before reinstall | Export and locate file |
| After reinstall | Restore the intended backup |
Manage each retained copy
An automatic server recovery is not available in this release. Without an exported copy, reinstalling does not provide a way to retrieve a removed local ledger.
