Reduce navigation motion

Reduce motion lets Fastly skip navigation fades and reduce animated presentation. It can be used independently of the timer goal, journal, or reminder choices.

Identify the reading or comfort need

Reduce motion lets Fastly skip navigation fades and reduce animated presentation. It can be used independently of the timer goal, journal, or reminder choices.

Adjust the relevant control

Open Accessibility and enable Reduce motion. Move between the main pages and inspect whether the quieter transitions fit your preference while keeping the content easy to follow.

Appearance offers System, Light (Paper Studio), and Dark (Quiet Orbit), plus Minimal orbit. These choices affect the visual presentation and do not alter session timestamps, journals, or completed-history ordering.

Check the real screen

The app also considers device motion settings when Follow system is enabled. If you are checking why motion is reduced, review both the in-app choice and that system-following setting.

Keep presentation and records distinct

Reduced motion changes presentation rather than pausing the timer. Elapsed time still derives from the stored start and the device clock.

Accessibility includes Reduce motion, Follow system, Larger timer numerals, High contrast ring, and Bold text. Fastly also follows device text size, so check both app and system settings for the effective result.

A worked walkthrough

Imagine moving between Today and History and deciding that the navigation fades are unnecessary for your use. Enable Reduce motion and repeat the same navigation so you can judge the relevant transition rather than a static screenshot. The timer continues to calculate elapsed time because motion preference and timekeeping are separate. If motion is already reduced with the in-app switch off, inspect Follow system and the device's own reduced-animation request. The effective behavior can come from that combination. If you change a theme while testing, an explicit in-app reduction also affects the app's theme-animation duration. Keep the test focused on presentation, and avoid starting and stopping timers just to see movement. Existing accurate records can remain untouched while you choose a calmer transition style that makes navigation more comfortable or simply less distracting for you. A completed record will still appear under its end date, regardless of which transition style is enabled.

Fastly is a lifestyle timer and journal. These notes explain the app and offer reflection prompts. They are not medical advice or a prescribed eating schedule.
