THE CHECKLIST · DISPLAY & ACCESSIBILITY

Keep a comfortable setup after a device change

A new device can change screen size, system text scaling, motion requests, sound behavior, and notification permission. A restored settings file is only one part of that setup.

Identify the reading or comfort need

Adjust the relevant control

After moving the ledger, inspect appearance and accessibility on the new screen. Review Sound & haptics and notification permission, then add the mobile widget separately if you want one.

Sound and vibration are optional feedback choices. They are separate from appearance and from the operating system's notification permissions, so a quiet-looking screen does not by itself establish silent alerts.

Check the real screen

The same stored preferences can produce a different experience because the physical display and system settings differ. Adjust them without assuming the imported session data is wrong.

Keep presentation and records distinct

Keep the old backup until you have verified the records as well as the presentation. Readability and data completeness are separate things to check after a move.
