Recover after selecting the wrong backup

If you have not confirmed replacement, cancel and choose the intended file. If replacement already completed, the next step depends on which other exported copies you kept.

Know the data boundary

If you have not confirmed replacement, cancel and choose the intended file. If replacement already completed, the next step depends on which other exported copies you kept.

Use the supported file workflow

Locate a newer valid backup that contains the records you want. Before another import, consider exporting the current state as a separate dated file so each dataset remains identifiable.

Import replaces the current local dataset rather than merging it. Export first if you want to retain the current copy, and review the file date before confirming Replace local records.

Check the copy you actually have

Importing a newer copy will again replace the full local dataset. It will not merge any changes made since the mistaken restore into that newer file.

Manage each retained copy

Avoid rapid repeated imports while uncertain. Compare file dates and known contents first, then make one deliberate choice about the complete ledger you intend to use.
