A LITTLE CLARITY · GETTING STARTED

Understand the 16:8 preset label

Fastly maps the 16:8 label to a sixteen-hour goal in its timer. The label identifies a preset; it does not create a personalised eating plan or assess whether that plan suits you.

Understand the record

Use the controls deliberately

Before starting, look at the actual goal hours rather than relying only on the familiar name. If you select another protocol during a running session, its stored goal changes live.

For an active record, changing the goal preserves the start, note, mood, and optional weight. The controller also recalculates any enabled goal reminder, subject to permission and quiet-hour settings.

Check a practical example

A completed record keeps the protocol and goal saved with that session. Later changing the default selection does not rewrite all earlier history entries to the new setting.

Keep the meaning clear

Use preset names as record labels. Conclusions about nutrition, medical suitability, or health effects cannot be drawn from the fact that a record carries this name.

Completed records can be edited through History. An end must follow its start and cannot be in the future; the controller reorders history after a valid correction so the list follows completion time.

A worked walkthrough

When reading a row labeled 16:8, distinguish the protocol name from the elapsed duration shown beside it. A record can carry that label and end below, at, or above the mapped sixteen-hour goal. The label alone does not tell you which happened; the timestamps and goal marker provide that context. If you later choose a different default, the old row remains a description of its own session. If you choose a different protocol while a timer is active, that current record changes with the selection. Those are different cases, so check whether the app is idle before experimenting with names. In a comparison or shared image, describe the actual quantity you are showing rather than assuming every recipient knows the preset mapping. A familiar label should not conceal which time value was recorded or which goal was used.

Fastly is a lifestyle timer and journal. These notes explain the app and offer reflection prompts. They are not medical advice or a prescribed eating schedule.
