Understand the record
Fastly uses an eighteen-hour goal for the 18:6 preset. Choosing it changes the timer's comparison duration; it does not unlock an extra measurement or make the app a medical advisor.
Use the controls deliberately
Check whether you have an active session before changing presets. A new selection also rescales the running session, so the displayed remaining time can change straight away.
Fastly keeps one current session, then adds a completed record to History when you stop. The record includes its own protocol and goal, so a later default choice can coexist with earlier settings.
Check a practical example
If you were testing labels rather than making a real change, return to the intended goal and confirm the ring again. The start timestamp remains the same through this selection.
| Check | Practical meaning |
|---|---|
| 18:6 label | Eighteen-hour app goal |
| Active timer | Rescales when selected |
Keep the meaning clear
Treat the preset as a convenience for a deliberate recording choice. The app cannot infer your circumstances or recommend that a longer goal is better.
The timer uses a stored start timestamp rather than depending on the screen staying open. Read the date alongside the clock time whenever you correct a session that crosses midnight or a change of local time.
A worked walkthrough
Imagine opening the protocol picker during a running session to see what the available labels mean. Selecting 18:6 is a real setting change, not merely opening an informational article: the active session's goal becomes the mapped eighteen hours. Its start, note, mood, and optional weight stay associated with that same current record. You can verify the effect by reading the goal on Today rather than inferring it from the ring alone. If this was an accidental selection, choose the intended goal again before continuing. Do not adjust the start just to recreate the old ring position, because the start describes an event while the ring reflects the new comparison duration. When you stop, the completed record retains the protocol and goal then saved with it, allowing future review to use the correct context.
Fastly is a lifestyle timer and journal. These notes explain the app and offer reflection prompts. They are not medical advice or a prescribed eating schedule.
