THE CHECKLIST · PRIVACY & BACKUPS

Validate a backup before replacing records

Fastly checks the file format and supported fields before accepting an import. You can also reduce mistakes by checking that you selected the expected file from the expected date.

Know the data boundary

Fastly checks the file format and supported fields before accepting an import. You can also reduce mistakes by checking that you selected the expected file from the expected date.

Use the supported file workflow

Read the filename, .json extension, and destination. Export the current dataset first if needed, then read the replacement confirmation before proceeding.

Erasing local data does not delete files you previously exported. Reinstalling or changing devices can remove access to local records, so verify a saved backup before those actions if you want the ledger to remain recoverable.

Check the copy you actually have

The importer expects a version-1 Fastly backup and rejects a file larger than ten megabytes. A different app's JSON or an image is not interchangeable with that structure.

Manage each retained copy

A valid file can still be the wrong version of your personal history. Format validation does not know whether you meant to restore last Tuesday's copy or today's.

Fastly is a lifestyle timer and journal. These notes explain the app and offer reflection prompts. They are not medical advice or a prescribed eating schedule.
