What a goal marker does and does not mean

A goal marker tells you that elapsed time met the goal stored with that record. It is a comparison between two app values, not a separate sensor measurement.

Inspect the contributing records

Open the record and read the duration alongside its protocol if you need to understand the marker. A changed goal can alter the comparison while leaving the timestamps unchanged.

Current rhythm counts consecutive qualifying end dates ending today or yesterday. A qualifying date has at least one main-history session that met that session's own saved goal; multiple sessions do not multiply the day.

Check the relevant distinction

A session without the marker may still have a correct start, end, and useful note. Completion of recording and completion of the selected duration are different concepts.

Interpret within the data limits

The marker does not verify nutrition, safety, or a health outcome. Keep it as a navigational cue for a chosen timer target rather than a broad judgment.

Main-history summaries exclude the active session and archived records. Editing, archiving, restoring, deleting, or importing records can therefore change a chart without any new session having occurred.

A worked walkthrough

Consider two hypothetical completed records with the same actual duration but different selected goals. One may show the goal-met icon while the other does not because their comparison thresholds differ. Conversely, records with different durations can both meet their own goals. The icon therefore cannot be read as a fixed amount of time or as an independent quality rating. When you change a routine, keep the old protocol context visible instead of comparing only the number of icons. If a time correction moves an entry below its goal, let the marker follow the accurate data rather than reversing the correction to preserve the symbol. The symbol is useful for seeing the result of a chosen comparison quickly. Its usefulness depends on remembering that the goal is a saved setting and the duration is the timed event.
