Know which records you are viewing
A session's note, mood, and optional weight belong to the record. Moving that record to the archive does not deliberately create a stripped-down copy containing only its duration.
Make the smallest useful change
Open the archive to review the retained session. If you restore it later, the same contextual fields return with it into main history.
Archive is a separate retained collection. Main-history session totals and current rhythm read the main collection, while JSON backup export includes both main history and archived records.
Verify the result
Backup export includes archived entries too, so private text in those records is still present in the exported JSON. Hiding a record from main history is not a privacy redaction.

| Redaction | Requires changing the data itself |
Preserve an honest history
If you want particular words removed from future backups, edit the journal itself or delete the record intentionally. Archiving changes placement rather than removing the underlying personal data.
Each completed record has its own start and end. A valid correction keeps end at or after start and no later than now; a running session instead uses its stored start and the current clock.
A worked walkthrough
Consider a record containing a note, a mood, and optional weight that you move out of main history. The archive retains those fields with the start, end, protocol, and goal. If your aim was simply a quieter everyday list, that behavior is useful: restoring the record later brings its context back too. If your aim was removing sensitive words from a future backup, archiving alone does not accomplish it because the exporter includes archived records. Edit the journal itself if you want the current dataset to contain different text, or delete the record if you intend permanent removal. Previously exported files remain separate older copies even after such a change. Thinking in terms of placement, content, and copies helps distinguish three operations that can otherwise all look like making something disappear from one screen.
