Know the data boundary
Fastly includes supported appearance, accessibility, reminder, feedback, and marker preferences in its backup. These are app settings, distinct from the operating system's permissions and presentation rules.
Use the supported file workflow
After importing, review the theme, timer style, motion and text choices, reminder times, and feedback settings. Confirm they suit the current device rather than assuming the previous setup is ideal.
Erasing local data does not delete files you previously exported. Reinstalling or changing devices can remove access to local records, so verify a saved backup before those actions if you want the ledger to remain recoverable.
Check the copy you actually have
An old backup may restore old quiet hours or a former Start time. The data can be restored correctly while the practical preference is no longer convenient.
Manage each retained copy
System permission is not a portable promise. You may need to grant notification access separately, and the operating system still controls widget placement and delivery behavior.
Backup export includes the current session when present, completed history, archived sessions, journal fields, protocol, goal, and supported settings. It is readable JSON, so store the file in a destination whose access you understand.
A worked walkthrough
Imagine restoring a file from a device that used a fixed dark theme, larger timer numerals, and evening quiet hours. Those supported app preferences can travel with the file, so the destination may immediately look different and use old reminder times. The new operating system still supplies its own text scaling, motion requests, notification authorization, and widget placement. If Follow system is enabled, those device preferences can combine with the restored app choices. Review the actual result rather than expecting a pixel-identical copy of the old screen. Also check whether the reminder times remain appropriate in the current local context. A restored setting can be technically valid while no longer convenient. Adjusting it does not alter the historical session timestamps. Record verification and comfort configuration are separate, useful steps after the import finishes.
Fastly is a lifestyle timer and journal. These notes explain the app and offer reflection prompts. They are not medical advice or a prescribed eating schedule.
