Know the data boundary
A backup is a snapshot made at one moment. Synchronization would continuously reconcile changes between devices, which is not what Fastly's manual export and replacement import provide.
Use the supported file workflow
If you use two devices, decide which ledger you intend to treat as the current copy before transferring files. Export from that device and understand that import replaces the destination's records.
Import replaces the current local dataset rather than merging it. Export first if you want to retain the current copy, and review the file date before confirming Replace local records.
Check the copy you actually have
Independent edits on both devices can produce diverging datasets. The importer does not merge them, deduplicate records, or resolve conflicting journal changes.

Manage each retained copy
Avoid describing a manual file transfer as a live sync. Keeping the distinction clear helps prevent overwriting newer data with an older snapshot.
