A LITTLE CLARITY · GETTING STARTED

Why only one timer runs at a time

Fastly's state contains a single current session. Starting again while one exists does not create another running session, which helps keep the local ledger understandable.

Understand the record

Fastly's state contains a single current session. Starting again while one exists does not create another running session, which helps keep the local ledger understandable.

Use the controls deliberately

If the start control appears unavailable or the screen shows an active dial, inspect the current start and goal. Stop or correct that session before trying to record a new one.

For an active record, changing the goal preserves the start, note, mood, and optional weight. The controller also recalculates any enabled goal reminder, subject to permission and quiet-hour settings.

Check a practical example

A session forgotten overnight can explain why you cannot begin a separate morning timer. Correct its end after stopping if that is necessary to reflect what happened.

Keep the meaning clear

Do not repeatedly tap start to test whether it worked. Check the active state and elapsed display; multiple taps do not represent multiple independent session records.

Completed records can be edited through History. An end must follow its start and cannot be in the future; the controller reorders history after a valid correction so the list follows completion time.

A worked walkthrough

Imagine reopening Fastly after forgetting it overnight. The screen still shows a current session, so tapping start again cannot create an independent second timer. First identify the existing start and determine whether the session should genuinely still be active. If it should have ended earlier, stop it and correct the completed end when you know the actual time. Only then begin a new record if that reflects a new event you intend to track. This sequence keeps each record's start and end understandable, instead of creating fragments just to escape an unfamiliar screen state. If the old end is uncertain, qualify the correction in its journal. The single-current-session design constrains the timer state, but it does not know which events happened while the app was closed; your deliberate correction provides that missing context.

Fastly is a lifestyle timer and journal. These notes explain the app and offer reflection prompts. They are not medical advice or a prescribed eating schedule.
