Read the metric definition
Fastly uses a session-based daily chart rather than splitting elapsed time at midnight. A completed record belongs to its local end day, including the portion before midnight.
Inspect the contributing records
Find the record in the Journal tab and compare its full duration with the bar on the end date. This can explain a quiet first day followed by a larger second day.
Bar heights are scaled against the largest daily value in the current view, with a minimum scale. Read numeric labels for comparisons across different screenshots; visual height alone is not a stable unit.
Check the relevant distinction
For example, a session beginning Tuesday evening and ending Wednesday morning is represented under Wednesday. Tuesday's empty bar does not show that no time passed before midnight.
| Check | Practical meaning |
|---|---|
| Start evening | Part of the same session |
| End morning | Day receiving the full duration |
Interpret within the data limits
Avoid manually dividing or duplicating the record just to spread color across two days. The chart's grouping rule is a display convention, and duplicating entries would change the ledger.
Current rhythm counts consecutive qualifying end dates ending today or yesterday. A qualifying date has at least one main-history session that met that session's own saved goal; multiple sessions do not multiply the day.
A worked walkthrough
Imagine a session starting near the end of one month and ending early on the first day of the next. Its history entry and full duration belong to the new month's first day because the end date is the grouping key. The preceding month's final day can therefore look empty even though the session was active then. This is not an hour-allocation report, and the app does not create two partial sessions at the calendar boundary. If you want to understand that particular night, open the original record and read both timestamps together. Do not copy the same duration into another entry to make both dates look occupied; that would change the ledger and could double-count time. A note describing the boundary context is a clearer way to retain the explanation without changing accurate event facts.
Fastly is a lifestyle timer and journal. These notes explain the app and offer reflection prompts. They are not medical advice or a prescribed eating schedule.
