Understand the record
A change of plan does not require discarding the active timer. Selecting a different protocol or custom goal updates the running session's goal while keeping its start and journal information.
Use the controls deliberately
Open the goal or protocol picker, choose the revised setting, and return to Today. Check the goal label and ring because progress is recalculated against the new duration immediately.
A goal marker compares elapsed time with the chosen hours. It does not measure food intake, nutritional adequacy, or medical outcomes; none of those can be inferred from a filled progress ring.
Check a practical example
Changing from a longer goal to a shorter one can make the ring appear much fuller without any additional elapsed time. The record changed its comparison point, not its start.
| Check | Practical meaning |
|---|---|
| Start | Preserved during goal change |
| Goal | Updated for current session |
Keep the meaning clear
If goal reminders are enabled, the controller reschedules them from the revised goal. A notification also depends on permissions and quiet hours, so verify those separately if needed.
For an active record, changing the goal preserves the start, note, mood, and optional weight. The controller also recalculates any enabled goal reminder, subject to permission and quiet-hour settings.
A worked walkthrough
Suppose you began a session with one intention and later changed your plans. Before opening the protocol picker, note the current start and elapsed display. Select the revised goal and return to Today. The start should still identify the same event, while remaining time and ring progress are calculated against the new hours. If the new goal is below elapsed time, a full ring is an expected result rather than evidence that additional time was inserted. If you want to remember the original intention, write it in the note; the stored record is not a complete audit trail of every goal selection you tried. Keep the wording descriptive, such as a schedule change, rather than using the note to justify the final number. The revised goal and the unchanged timestamp can then be interpreted together clearly.
Fastly is a lifestyle timer and journal. These notes explain the app and offer reflection prompts. They are not medical advice or a prescribed eating schedule.
