A LITTLE CLARITY · REMINDERS & ROUTINES

Distinguish goal alerts from automatic stops

The Goal reached notification announces a time marker. It does not call the stop action, write a completed end, or create a History record by itself.

Decide what cue you want

The Goal reached notification announces a time marker. It does not call the stop action, write a completed end, or create a History record by itself.

Check the relevant settings

After seeing the alert, open Today and inspect the current session. Stop when you intend to record an end; if you had already ended earlier, correct the completed end from reliable information.

Notification delivery also depends on the operating system, permission, battery restrictions, and presentation settings. Fastly's timer reads the device clock; an accurately calculated duration does not guarantee an exactly timed alert.

Understand the timing distinction

A session can remain active long after its goal notification because its elapsed calculation still uses the stored start and current clock. That is different from a lost stop event.

Keep control of the routine

Do not use notification arrival as the sole evidence of an actual session end. Record the real event, even when a quiet period or system delay changed the alert time.

The controller cancels old goal and start schedules before computing the relevant new ones. Goal changes and start corrections resynchronize reminders from the current session data and current quiet-hour settings.

A worked walkthrough

Consider reopening the app after seeing Goal reached on the phone. If Today still contains an active timer, that is consistent with the notification's purpose: it announced a selected threshold without writing an end. Decide what event you need to record now. If the session truly ends now, stop it. If it ended earlier and the tap was missed, stop and correct the completed end from reliable information. If you are only checking status, you can leave the record as it is. The notification itself cannot tell which scenario applies because it has no observation of your activities outside the app. This is why a delayed alert should not be used as a substitute timestamp. Keep the planned marker, visible message, and actual recorded end as separate facts when interpreting the history entry later.

Fastly is a lifestyle timer and journal. These notes explain the app and offer reflection prompts. They are not medical advice or a prescribed eating schedule.
