Understand the selected surface
A Session image uses the active record when a timer is running. The displayed value is elapsed time at the preview moment, not a final completed duration.
Set it up or export deliberately
Open Share, keep Session selected, and inspect the preview. Choose Square, Story, or Landscape and the desired width, then export through the system destination picker.
Widgets read this device's timer, and tapping one opens Fastly. The operating system controls refresh timing, so open the app when you need the latest detailed progress or want to change a session.
Check what is actually shown
If you want the completed session value instead, stop at the actual end and verify the record before exporting. The preview's caption distinguishes an in-progress session from a completed one.
| Check | Practical meaning |
|---|---|
| Active preview | Elapsed at that moment |
| Exported PNG | Static snapshot |
Respect the display and file boundary
Once exported, the PNG is a static image. It does not keep counting or update when the session ends, so describe it as a snapshot if timing context matters.
The iOS guide specifies iOS 17 or later, Small or Medium Home Screen widgets, and a circular Lock Screen option. Android uses the Home Screen widget picker; this desktop release instead recommends the resizable app window.
A worked walkthrough
Imagine previewing a running session, exporting it, and then stopping several minutes later. The sent PNG contains the earlier elapsed value because it is a rendered snapshot, not a live link. A second export after stopping can show the completed value, but it does not revise the first recipient's copy. If you need to explain the difference, describe when the snapshot was made rather than suggesting the timer changed history. Also confirm the Session selection before exporting: an active record takes precedence over the newest completed one. Format and width choices change the image presentation, not that source rule. The journal is excluded, but you should still inspect the displayed duration and caption because they can be personal information. Cancel the share if the preview or chosen destination is not what you intended; cancellation does not end the session.
Fastly is a lifestyle timer and journal. These notes explain the app and offer reflection prompts. They are not medical advice or a prescribed eating schedule.
