Turn on a start reminder

Time to start is a local nudge for the next session. The controller schedules it when no session is running, using the chosen Start time setting.

Decide what cue you want

Time to start is a local nudge for the next session. The controller schedules it when no session is running, using the chosen Start time setting.

Check the relevant settings

Open Reminders, choose the desired Start time, enable Time to start, and confirm notification permission. Check All reminders as well because it controls whether individual reminder choices are scheduled.

Quiet-hour alerts move to the end of the configured interval. That shift does not alter the start timestamp, chosen goal, elapsed time, or the fact that only stopping creates a completed history record.

Understand the timing distinction

If a session is already active, the start reminder is not scheduled as though another timer should run alongside it. Inspect Today if an expected idle-time nudge is absent.

Keep control of the routine

A notification does not automatically begin a session. Open Fastly and decide whether you intend to start recording now, using settings suited to the actual occasion.

Notification delivery also depends on the operating system, permission, battery restrictions, and presentation settings. Fastly's timer reads the device clock; an accurately calculated duration does not guarantee an exactly timed alert.

A worked walkthrough

Imagine choosing a reminder time while the app is idle. Fastly looks for the next occurrence of that local clock time, using the next day if today's occurrence has already passed. Quiet hours can shift that cue to their end. If you begin a session before the cue, the active state changes which reminder is relevant; the controller does not keep inviting you to start a second concurrent timer. To verify an expected alert, read the chosen clock time, the quiet interval, and whether Today is active or idle. This is more informative than looking at the Time to start switch alone. The reminder never starts the session on your behalf, so a delivered message still requires a deliberate choice to open the app and record a new start if that matches the actual occasion.

Fastly is a lifestyle timer and journal. These notes explain the app and offer reflection prompts. They are not medical advice or a prescribed eating schedule.
