Decide what cue you want
Goal reminders are opt-in in Fastly. They are scheduled locally for a running session, using its start plus its selected goal duration, rather than coming from an account or server.
Check the relevant settings
Open Reminders, enable All reminders if necessary, and enable Goal reached. Grant notification permission when requested, then verify the active session's start and goal.
Reminders are scheduled locally after permission. All reminders is the master control; Goal reached and Time to start are separate choices. The active or idle session state determines which of those cues is scheduled.
Understand the timing distinction
If the calculated goal instant falls in enabled quiet hours, the app moves the alert to the end of that interval. The ring can therefore show goal reached before the notification appears.
| Check | Practical meaning |
|---|---|
| Opt in | Goal reached plus permission |
| Quiet hours | May move the alert later |
Keep control of the routine
A reminder is an optional cue. It neither stops the timer nor determines what you should do; the recorded end is created only when you stop the session.
Quiet-hour alerts move to the end of the configured interval. That shift does not alter the start timestamp, chosen goal, elapsed time, or the fact that only stopping creates a completed history record.
A worked walkthrough
For a configuration walkthrough, start with a real active session whose start and goal you understand. Enable the relevant reminder only if you want the cue, grant system permission if requested, and check the master All reminders setting. Calculate the intended goal instant from the recorded start plus the selected hours, then see whether that instant falls within quiet hours. If it does, the expected alert is shifted to the interval's end. If the instant is already past when scheduling occurs, the service does not create a retroactive alarm. These checks explain several apparently missing notifications without changing a timestamp. When an alert does appear, use it as a prompt to inspect the current state, not as evidence that the session automatically ended. Stop records a separate event that remains under your control.
Fastly is a lifestyle timer and journal. These notes explain the app and offer reflection prompts. They are not medical advice or a prescribed eating schedule.
