FIELD GUIDE · PRIVACY & BACKUPS

Use Fastly without an account

This release's active workflow goes from onboarding to the home screens without requiring an account.

Know the data boundary

This release's active workflow goes from onboarding to the home screens without requiring an account. Your local ledger is not attached to a sign-in identity used for server synchronization.

Use the supported file workflow

Complete onboarding, choose the intended timer settings, and use Today, Journal, and Settings directly. Keep a manual backup if you want a portable copy of the records.

There is no account or automatic custom-server backup in this release. The privacy text also states that the app's private local storage is excluded from automatic cloud device backups; exported files are your separately chosen copies.

Check the copy you actually have

If you move to another device, there is no password-recovery process that retrieves this ledger. Export and import are the relevant tools for carrying it across.

Manage each retained copy

No account also means there is no account deletion step needed to erase the local records. Use the local data controls, and manage exported files separately.

Erasing local data does not delete files you previously exported. Reinstalling or changing devices can remove access to local records, so verify a saved backup before those actions if you want the ledger to remain recoverable.

A worked walkthrough

In an account-based app, a common first step on a new device is signing in and waiting for history to appear. Fastly's active workflow is different: onboarding leads into the local timer and journal, and an existing ledger arrives only through a file you import. This makes first use straightforward, but it changes what recovery means. There is no forgotten-password process that can retrieve the local sessions, and no account mailbox you need to keep active for normal timer use. If you want portability, make a deliberate JSON backup and keep it somewhere accessible to you. If you want to erase the app's local data, use its local controls rather than searching for an account-deletion page. Manage exported copies separately because they remain files at the destinations you selected. These expectations help avoid looking for a server workflow that this release does not provide.

Fastly is a lifestyle timer and journal. These notes explain the app and offer reflection prompts. They are not medical advice or a prescribed eating schedule.
