A LITTLE CLARITY · REMINDERS & ROUTINES

Why changing the start moves the goal alert

The goal instant is calculated from the active start plus the selected goal duration.

Decide what cue you want

The goal instant is calculated from the active start plus the selected goal duration. Correcting the start therefore changes the expected goal time even if the number of goal hours stays the same.

Check the relevant settings

After using start adjustment, read the new elapsed value and goal context. The controller synchronizes reminders so the active goal cue follows the revised session information.

Reminders are scheduled locally after permission. All reminders is the master control; Goal reached and Time to start are separate choices. The active or idle session state determines which of those cues is scheduled.

Understand the timing distinction

Moving the start thirty minutes earlier moves the goal instant thirty minutes earlier before quiet-hour rules are applied. A quiet period can then shift the delivered cue again.

Keep control of the routine

A reminder may be skipped if its computed instant is already past when scheduling occurs. Read the app's goal status rather than expecting a late catch-up notification.

Quiet-hour alerts move to the end of the configured interval. That shift does not alter the start timestamp, chosen goal, elapsed time, or the fact that only stopping creates a completed history record.

A worked walkthrough

For a purely arithmetic example, imagine a start at 08:00 and a ten-hour goal, producing an 18:00 goal instant. Correcting the start to 07:30 moves that instant to 17:30 without changing the number of goal hours. A quiet interval may then move the notification later, so the visible arrival can differ from either raw calculation. If the corrected goal instant is already past, the service skips a new past-time schedule. These outcomes can all be correct consequences of one timestamp repair. Verify the new start and elapsed value first, then reason about reminder timing as a separate calculation. Do not restore an inaccurate start simply to preserve an earlier expectation about an alert. The recording fact should remain accurate, while the optional cue follows the fact and the current notification preferences.
