Decide what cue you want
Fastly schedules the start reminder only when there is no current session. During an active session, the relevant optional reminder is Goal reached instead.
Check the relevant settings
Open Today to check whether a timer is already running, especially if you forgot to stop a previous record. Correct that record when you know what actually happened.
The notification service skips scheduling instants that are already in the past. A goal can therefore be reached in the app without a new retrospective alert after a start correction or goal reduction.
Understand the timing distinction
The app's single-current-session model avoids treating the start reminder as an instruction to create a second overlapping timer. The state of Today therefore matters to scheduling.
Keep control of the routine
Do not stop an accurate active session solely to provoke an alert. Decide whether the current record should genuinely end, then keep the reminder choice as a separate convenience.
Reminders are scheduled locally after permission. All reminders is the master control; Goal reached and Time to start are separate choices. The active or idle session state determines which of those cues is scheduled.
A worked walkthrough
Imagine expecting an evening start reminder while a session begun earlier is still current. The enabled switch alone does not mean another start cue should be scheduled; the controller uses the current-or-idle state to choose the relevant alert. Open Today and establish whether the active record is intentional. If it is a forgotten timer, stop and correct the end only when you know the actual event time. If it is accurate, there is no need to end it to satisfy a reminder expectation. After a genuine stop, an enabled start cue can again be computed for the next selected clock occurrence. This behavior follows the single-current-session model. A reminder is designed around that model rather than acting as an independent recurring invitation to create multiple overlapping timers on the same device.
Fastly is a lifestyle timer and journal. These notes explain the app and offer reflection prompts. They are not medical advice or a prescribed eating schedule.
